Recovery That Tours With You

Evidence-based rehab coaching for musicians who live loud. Built around your body and your gig calendar, not a clinic's.

Cash-based and referral-free, with no insurance runaround. Sessions that fit between soundcheck and doors, or wherever your schedule actually leaves room.

What I Do

Every program is focused on an evidence-based approach to addressing the whole person, how they interact with their environment, and what role pain is playing within it. Backed by current research, practical outcome tracking, and goal-oriented reassessment along the way. No outdated protocols. No generic plug-and-play handouts, and no aimless prescriptions, because there is no true "one size fits all" model.

Rehab Coaching

One-on-one, remote or in-person coaching. Focused on finding ways to calm down symptoms, and build tissues back up. All within the unique confines and constraints of the life of a musician.

Instrument-Specific Movement Screen

Here we can watch you play, your setup, your posture, and your instrument-specific mechanics over video or in person. While I am not out to change and retrain what made you successful, we can analyze the specific movement patterns, unique to your instrument and style of play, to find ways to manage loads while symptoms resolve, and retrain tissues and movements to be stronger and more resilient going forwards.

Touring Recovery Plans

Programming designed for zero or minimal equipment, inconvenient spaces, inconsistent sleep, and the mental fatigue of being on the road. Focused on building resilience and fortitude to decrease risk of injury, and make getting over potential injuries even faster.

Async Coaching & Check-Ins

Can't make weekly in-person appointments? No problem! We can schedule weekly or monthly check-in calls, to make sure you have a solid understanding of your plans, and address any speed bumps in the road of your journey. I am also available to message any time, where I can address concerns and answer questions. I typically respond within 24-48 hours for messages not labeled "urgent".

Return-to-Performance Programming

Strength and conditioning built around performance-specific demands: set-length stamina, load-in/out strength, and general promotion of health, confidence, and resilience for life. All programs are customized around needs and access, just like rehab programs offered.

In-Studio Intensive

(local clients only)

When you're in town, we can perform more intensive assessments and tests, such as dynamometry strength testing, movement assessments, and return-to-play testing.

Built for Musicians, Not Just Athletes

Most rehab and performance programs are built for people with a 9-to-5, consistent gym access, and a "traditional" schedule. You have a tour schedule that doesn't accept PTO, are wondering when the next shower and meal will be, and have an instrument that doesn't care about your pain. Plus, the pressures a generic program could never account for: income tied to your ability to perform, identity tied to your instrument, deadlines and set times. I aim to address the whole picture of the person, not just the tissue that hurts.

Touring Musicians

Programming that works from a green room, hotel gym, or rest stop/parking lot out of a van or bus. Taking into account the toll the stressors a tour places on a person.

Session & Orchestra Players

Built around rehearsal blocks, irregular call times, and the high pressures of not missing a gig.

Gigging & Freelance Musicians

Cash-pay pricing that doesn't assume you have insurance or a guaranteed paycheck. Understanding the importance of needing to answer when opportunity calls, despite pain and dysfunction.

Music Students & Teachers

Catch overuse patterns and the anxiety that builds around them early, before either becomes career-limiting. Prioritizing health for long-term performance.

Getting Started Is Simple

Pain doesn't happen in a vacuum. It's of course shaped by your mechanics, and loads placed on your tissues. But it is also affected by the loads your lifestyle, stress, tour, concert schedule, or teaching demands are putting on your entire system. So that's where I start: a thorough subjective assessment that looks at all of it, before I ever pick an exercise. What I learn there tells me which objective measurements to assess, which metrics to track, and how to modify your routine, around your lifestyle.

  1. 1

    Discovery Call (Free, 15 min)

We talk through your instrument, your schedule, and what's going on with your body. No commitment.

  2. 2

    Subjective Assessment & Movement Screen

Before I test anything, I listen. A detailed subjective assessment covers your pain history and movement patterns, but also your lifestyle factors, your stress load, and how the injury is affecting your confidence on your instrument. That full picture determines which objective assessments I run next, including an instrument-specific movement screen (if needed), strength/movement assessments, and which outcomes and metrics we'll track as your plan progresses.

  3. 3

    Your Plan

After gathering your subjective and objective data, I build a progressive, evidence-based exercise plan around your calendar and your capacity. Focusing on the highest-yield methods for short-term pain relief and long-term return to performance and resilience.

  4. 4

    Ongoing Coaching

Scheduled sessions, async check-ins, messaging or a mix of all, whatever actually fits your life on the road or off it. I keep track of symptoms, metrics, and goals along the way to either progress or regress activities based on demands and current tolerances.

Built for the Way Musicians Actually Live

Perseverance Rehab & Performance was built on the mindset that a musician's body is just as important to their performance as any athlete's. Pain should not be the limiting factor in keeping someone from pursuing, perfecting, and performing their art and expression. Many artists and musicians do not realize there are practical and actionable steps that can be taken to help their pain today, just with a little guidance. I am here to meet you where you are at and where help is needed, realizing that many times that is far away from a clinic or gym. Please inquire below if pain or injury is holding you back!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this physical therapy?

No. This is exercise-based rehab coaching with movement assessment and education. I don't diagnose medical conditions or provide hands-on treatment, and I'll refer you to a physician or another provider when something is outside what coaching can safely address.

Are you my therapist?

No. I'll ask about stress, sleep, and confidence because they affect recovery, and I'll coach around them where that overlaps with rehab. I'm not a mental health provider, and if you need one, I'll help you find the right person.

Do I need a referral to start?

No referral is needed! Upon filling out your intake form and/or starting our discovery call, we can briefly discuss your symptoms and other health information important to your situation. If the severity seems outside my scope of practice or any red flags are present, we will discuss a referral to the proper medical professional.

How does messaging work?

You can message me any time with questions about your plan and progress. I typically respond within 24 to 48 hours, and messages labeled urgent get priority. Messaging is not for medical emergencies. In a medical emergency, call 911.

Do you take insurance?

No, this is a cash-pay practice. HSA/FSA acceptance is in process, and sliding-scale and trade options are available. See the Pricing section for rates.
